I remember working in a textile mill in Hialeah, Florida as a foreman with 60 plus Spanish-speakers. I wanted to share Christ with them, but I was frustrated because I didn’t speak enough Spanish to adequately share the Gospel. I would carry Spanish Bible tracts in my back pocket to give away when the opportunity came along. Occasionally, someone would be interested enough to ask questions about God. I would put a Spanish Bible alongside my English Bible and have them compare and discuss the verses. I wanted them to understand the love and hope only found in Jesus.
I remember the joy that I felt when one of my co-workers, Marina Fernandez, was able to understand enough to say, “Yes, I want to become a Christian and be baptized into Christ”. This was in 1973, long before digital media.
